First communicator to upgrade legacy systems to triple-path connectivity, video surveillance, 5G-ready technology, and a modern touchpad

PAUL, MN – JUNE 4, 2019 – Alula, the leader in smart security and automation systems for professional installers and the award-winning inventors of the Connect+ Platform, was awarded a 2019 Innovation Award for its BAT-Connect Communicator at this year’s Electronic Security Expo (ESX) in Indianapolis.

ESX’s Innovation Awards–which are open only to security professionals–recognize excellence in the industry, rewarding products and services that benefit the consumer while also supporting security professionals’ revenue and customer growth.

“In the past two months since we launched BAT-Connect, we’ve received tremendous support and positive feedback from security professionals, customers and our industry partners,” said Brian McLaughlin, CEO, Alula. “Being recognized with the ESX award for innovation underscores that this is truly a game-changing product that will revolutionize the takeover business and help our partners solve the 3G sunset challenge.”

The ESX Innovation Award marks the second time the BAT-Connect Communicator has been honored since its official launch at ISC West in mid-April. Judges at that conference, which is the largest converged security event in the U.S., named the BAT-Connect the New Product Showcase Award winner in the Residential and Monitoring Solutions category.

Judges recognized Alula’s BAT-Connect Communicator for being the first interactive communicator to provide Wi-Fi, IP and the new CAT-M1 communication paths outside the home or business. Judges also commended the device for being the first communicator to enable legacy security panels to utilize a modern touchpad for onsite control and status, as well as the first to leverage CAT-M1 cellular technology, the IoT band for 4G and 5G networks.

The BAT-Connect allows customers to instantly upgrade and modernize their legacy security systems. The device incorporates video surveillance and home automation functionality as well as the ability to add a modern touchpad to replace aging LED keypads.

Powered by the encrypted, lightning-fast Alula network, system control is delivered instantly to the smart devices that customers already use and love. Upgrading aging security systems with new capabilities enables security professionals to increase recurring monthly revenue and retain more accounts. Because BAT-Connect provides both IP and the new CAT-M1 cellular technology as primary communication paths, the 5G-proof device doesn’t have the same vulnerability to cellular sunsets as cell-only communicators.

Armed with the BAT-Connect, security installers can streamline their takeover business, cut install time and simplify operations. The easy-to-install communicator is broadly compatible with common panels, giving security dealers a major upgrade for 15 million legacy security systems online today.
